HIV Infected Widows
AMP has partnered with Peckville Assemblies of God church to start a feeding ministry for HIV infected widows in the Siany slums. The drugs they take to fight off the HIV virus are very potent and without food, the women become very sick and can die. On our recent ministry trip, we supplied 50 very grateful HIV infected widows with a two-week supply of food.
The Siany and Nanga slums in Kisumu, Kenya, are home to many widows living with HIV. On our mission trips, we often visit these women and listen to their heartbreaking stories of struggle and loss.

Many of these widows not only lost their husbands to AIDS but were also infected by them. This tragic fate has turned their lives into a daily fight for survival. With the loss of their husbands, they lose their protection, provision, and security.

At African Missions Project (AMP), we are committed to changing their fate and offering them hope by showing them the love and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ. The greatest need of these widows is food, as the powerful medications they take to combat the virus can make them very ill, or even lead to death, if taken without proper nutrition.

During our mission trips, we have the privilege of distributing 85 bags of food to these women and praying with them. Many have given their lives to Jesus Christ through our ministry, and their gratitude is evident in the tears of joy they shed.

Our short-term goal is to provide daily meals to these women through the Siany Orphan School, with the support of Pastor Mangooso Chelimo and his wife, Resila. For just $5 a week, you can feed a widow every day for an entire week. Our long-term goal is to eventually be able to feed all 150 HIV-infected widows of the Siany and Nanga slums.
